Head of Public Equity

Role Description: We are actively hiring our first Head of Public Equity (Constellation Fund, Principal or Partner level title - “PM for the strategy”) to lead our public equity investment strategy. Our strategy is having long-only equity positions in B2B FinTech, FIG, and adjacent public opportunities in the geo markets where we are active within our private strategies across 2 categories: a) IPO allocations in Fin portfolio companies and b) Select positions in public equities.
The Head of Public Equity will focus on the following responsibilities:
Sourcing:
Conduct market analysis and opportunity identification via research, customer interviews, conferences, and peers.
Proactively develop relationships with identified Fin portfolio companies and public companies that align to our investment theses and scope.
Help manage the investment pipeline and execution process.
Diligence and Investment Execution:
Lead the team’s initial screening and subsequent deep due diligence of potential investments.
Lead development of diligence materials and Investment Memo/Scorecard to assess market sizing, talent assessment, key metrics/financials, capital structure, valuation modeling and exit scenarios, risks, etc.
Liaise with team members to lead diligence checks (product, tech, and finance) and finalize investment execution (legal and finance).
Portfolio Company Operating Support:
Gather and assess portfolio performance, metrics, and financials on a quarterly basis.
Analyze portfolio performance, portfolio positioning, and risk exposures
Desired Skills and Experience:
3-year min track record as a Sr. Analyst/Jr. PM at a Mutual Fund, Asset Manager or Hedge Fund, with hands-on experience in a long-only strategy.
Coverage experience in enterprise software, FIG, FinTech and related industries in the US and internationally.
Fundamentals-driven, “bottom up” investing style with strong analytical/modeling capabilities
Ability to anticipate and identify company, industry, and market developments and support insights with research and analysis.
Excellent communication skills; able to synthesize complicated analyses concisely and to articulate insightful conclusions compellingly. Open to spirited debate over ideas.
MBA and CFA preferred
