Role Description: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Analyst to join our Finance & Accounting team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining the integrity and accuracy of our financial and portfolio data. You will be responsible for collecting, organizing, analyzing, and reporting on various financial datasets, contributing to key decision-making processes within the funds. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of finance and accounting principles, advanced data analysis skills, and a passion for the venture capital industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Data Management:
Maintain and update the fund's financial database, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
Develop and implement data quality control measures to prevent errors and inconsistencies.
Track and analyze key financial metrics, including fund performance, expenses, and capital calls.
Prepare regular financial reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Portfolio Data Management:
Collect and analyze portfolio company data, including financial statements, KPIs, and valuation metrics.
Develop and maintain portfolio tracking tools and dashboards.
Assist in the preparation of portfolio review materials and due diligence reports.
Finance & Accounting Support:
Support the finance team with various accounting tasks, such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and expense reporting.
Assist in the preparation of financial statements and tax filings.
Contribute to the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
Data Analysis & Reporting:
Conduct ad-hoc data analysis to support investment decision-making and portfolio management.
Develop and automate reports to track key performance indicators and identify trends.
Visualize data effectively to communicate insights to the investment team and limited partners.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
2+ years of experience in a data analysis or finance role, preferably within the venture capital or private equity industry.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Advanced Excel skills, including experience with pivot tables, macros, and data visualization tools.
Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, including statistical analysis and data modeling.
Experience with SQL or other database query languages is a plus.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
