Business Development Director/Senior Associate (APAC)

Role Description:
Fin is seeking a Business Development Director or Senior Associate to serve as a key member of the firm’s external facing presence, supporting capital raising and business development activities, as well as the broader firm’s growth objectives. The Director or Senior Associate will work closely with both Fin’s Chief Capital Officer and Fin’s Head of BD/Partnerships. Their responsibilities will include developing, fostering, and maintaining corporate and commercial relationships across APAC, as well as supporting the capital raising process with a focus on APAC relationships. This includes supporting our portfolio companies around customer engagement, as well as executing on efficient and effective outreach to a full range of institutional and strategic investors. The ideal candidate will have previous business development and/or capital raising experience in a venture capital or private equity setting and familiarity with institutions in the broader Fintech ecosystem.
Location: Tokyo, Singapore, or US (US Team members will be based in NYC or SF)
Responsibilities:
Assist portfolio companies on select projects and business development introduction requests.
Support strategic LP engagement by helping develop market landscapes on emerging Fintech themes and companies.
Support the sourcing of prospective LPs (with an APAC focus) and assist in managing the capital formation/investor relations processes, driven through Fin’s CRM (i.e., ensure accuracy of responses and that all deadlines are met; update LP contact information, client activity and investment interests).
Develop deeper relationships with key stakeholders in our network:
Platform/BD/Partnership peers at other venture capital firms to identify best practices to deliver value to portfolio.
Fintech incubators and accelerators to help source companies for investment team evaluation.
Banks, Asset Managers, Fintechs, Insurers, TPAs, and Brokers.
Prospective investors, including strategics, institutional investors, and HNW/FOs.
Develop and execute programming and events (both in person and online) to build and engage our community in ways that deliver value to the Fin Capital team, our portfolio companies, our investors, and our broader network.
Assist in preparing regular content to engage with the community, including marketing materials, market mapping, content to highlight our community engagement, models, and Fin’s quarterly Navigator webinars.
Help write, source, and post social media, blog, and newsletter content for Fin’s core audiences.
Establish and manage workflows to meet all internal and external deadlines related to business development/capital raising. Initiate innovative ideas and creative approaches to help increase efficiency and further the broader goals of the firm.
Assist in producing activity reports and action items from our CRM.
Maintain outreach language across Fin’s fundraising activities.
Assist in administration of Fin’s virtual data rooms.
Assist in responding to ad-hoc information requests during fundraising activities, with an emphasis on driving prospective investors to the virtual data room.
Conduct competitor and market research, with an emphasis on identifying LPs investing in/open to Fintech allocations.
Organize video and in-person meetings and roadshows.
Identify industry conferences ideal for Fin’s participation and coordinate participation. Maintain regular and active event attendance and immersion in the Fintech community.
Coordinate and work with other areas of the firm effectively as part of a collaborative team.
Qualifications/Ideal Characteristics:
2-4 years (Senior Associate) or 5+ years (Director) of relevant experience, preferably within a private markets investment management firm, business development role at a Fintech company, or strategy/innovation at a financial institution.
Personable and engaging personality that can develop strong and long-lasting relationships across the industry.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to conceptualize and communicate complex subject matter to a variety of audiences.
Strong attention to detail, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
Highly proficient in PowerPoint and Excel.
Enjoy building repeatable and scalable systems and processes yet recognize that human connection is the heart of effective communities.
Undergraduate degree and an excellent academic background.
Self-motivated and have a proven ability to prioritize, multi-task, and perform effectively in a highly dynamic and collaborative work environment under tight deadlines.
Accustomed to handling high volumes of information with the utmost attention to detail.
You are comfortable traveling and working irregular hours at times to accommodate overseas relationships.
Native language speakers in Japanese or Mandarin required.
