VP of Finance and Operations 

Fin Capital is seeking a VP of Finance and Operations who will report to our newly appointed CFO/CCO/COO, Marcella McColl. The team members will support the leadership of its finance, operations, and risk/compliance functions.  The team will help manage and refine our financial and operational strategy, identify and track relevant KPIs, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results. These roles require deep experience in accounting and related oversight skills for Venture Capital, Private Equity and publics/SPAC activities, in a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA). The ideal candidates will have previous experience in related industries and functions.   

Responsibilities 

  • Help oversee the financial operations and reporting of active private equity funds (Seed, Early Stage, Growth) and publics (SPACs) strategy 

  • Manage fund administration relationship which includes reviewing and overseeing capital calls, distributions, management fee calculations, waterfall calculations and investor statements 

  • Manage strategic tax planning and filing of the active funds and GPs tax returns and associated K-1s 

  • Support and participate in the management of the banking and tax/audit relationships  

  • Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts, including capital call lines across funds 

  • Develop fund models for capital planning, liquidity planning and reserves including exit scenarios 

  • Execute and confirm funding wires to portfolio companies and manage treasury functions 

  • Own the valuations process of underlying fund investments 

  • Support and participate in the management of the legal relationship with outside counsel on fund documents, formation documents, and other  

  • Work with team on managing SPAC financial administration in coordination with our bookkeeping and accounting partner  

  • Manage exits, distributions, and custodian relationships  

  • Manage the preparation of the funds’ quarterly and year-end NAV, Schedule of Investments (SOI), performance metric calculations, financial statements, management of the audit process, addressing LP audit/reporting requests and reviewing other fund related reports 

  • Provide data and support for quarterly LP presentations and meetings  

  • Review and approve all financial reporting and filings to regulators and tax  

  • Engage with fundraising and investor relations initiatives e.g. investor onboarding and review, ODD reviews, other analyses  

  • Assist with other firm operational matters including management company budgeting/accounting and tax planning as needed 

Qualifications 

  • Proven track record of growing businesses as Controller or VP of Finance   

  • Private equity and venture capital industry experience 

  • Big 4 experience a plus  

  • Experience in RIA registration, reporting, and ongoing compliance requirements 

  • Experience in complex financial modeling and valuations experience a major plus 

  • Master’s degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience. Preference will be given to candidates with an MBA in finance, Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations
