The Role

Fin is seeking an Investment Team member (Associate or Principal level) to focus on the deep technical diligence upfront and ongoing technical/product value add for the Fin portfolio.  Successful candidates will be well versed in FinTech software architecture, custody/back/middle/front office software/API solutions (mobile/desktop + cloud/on-prem – legacy and modern stacks), enterprise compliance certifications, code base understanding, software development methodologies and product design experience.  This person will be responsible for meeting company eng/product teams and evaluating their development standards, software architecture and compliance, cyber infrastructure, enterprise readiness, and product roadmap, and ensuring we are properly underwriting the company from a technical perspective. Experience, research and curiosity in Web3/digital assets a major plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Investment Opportunities: You will invest in relationships throughout the ecosystem. This includes proactive involvement in the FinTech community - attending industry events, learning more about the latest technologies/themes, meeting with peer investors, and building networks to proactive access leading repeat Founders. 

  • Embrace the FinTech Nerd: You enjoy and are expected to keep up to date with the latest trends in the FinTech software architecture and tech stacks.  This includes proactively building a network of subject matter experts and having a solid understanding of how the ecosystem is evolving / frontier trends.

  • Evaluate prospective investments: Assist in conducting a detailed, comprehensive, and technical review of potential investments.

  • Point of View: Develop a point of view on new technologies and a sharp investment perspective on categories and companies. Help build specific sub-sector and theses with greenfield opportunities, supported by granular technical analysis – e.g. identify gaps in the traditional financial services, insurance, and asset management along with FinTech tech stacks.

Requirements:

  • 3–5+ years of experience working in FinTech as an engineer and/or product manager

  • Undergraduate/graduate technical degree(s)

  • Self-starter, genuinely intellectually curious, attention to detail, and passionate about FinTech and its impact on all aspects of the future

  • Strong relevant entrepreneur, strategic, and investor networks, deeply knowledgeable on all aspects of FinServ/Tech architecture and energized to learn new technologies and spaces frequently and quickly.
